Ban economic theory from your lives.

banda sonora: Aretha Franklin - Think (Aretha is available at the playlist on the right side)

"Once upon a time, there was a man who lived by the principle of profit maximisation. He had long realised that he needed hardly any sleep and could eat all meals in front of the computer screen; that most social contact was pointless. His marriage was long over, and he hadn’t seen his parents in 2 years. Once upon a time, there was a man who lived by the principle of pleasure maximisation. He had long realised that there was no point in pursuing success, since the time and effort invested did not match the results; that the people he met on the square were all the friends he needed. His wife had left him, and he hardly spoke to his parents. One day, Man 1 ran into Man 2 as he was hurrying across the square. For a brief moment, their eyes met, and scorn mixed with a twinge of envy. On the other side of the square, unnoticed by both men, a couple has just finished lunch in a small restaurant. They kissed good-bye and both returned to work."
